About
Originally from Wales, and now proudly based in the picturesque Manawatu, New Zealand, my journey as a designer and craftsman has been shaped by a lifelong passion for creating beautiful, functional art.
As a young dreamer, I envisioned myself as a Blacksmith, not to be confused with a Farrier, for I had no interest in shoeing horses. Rather, I was captivated by the grandeur of the entrance gates to stately homes in the UK. The idea of designing and crafting such magnificent pieces ignited a creative spark that has never left me. When an apprenticeship proved elusive, I turned my focus to 3D design and earned a degree in Jewellery and Silversmithing from Loughborough University.
With the support of my family, I opened my first jewellery studio in Wales, where I quickly learned that making a name for oneself as a solo artisan—especially in pre-internet times—was no easy feat.
Exhibiting widely proved essential, but I soon realised that the path of a full-time jeweller and silversmith was not for the faint-hearted.After time, I shifted gears, moving my workshop to my parents' property and stepping away from jewellery-making to embrace the corporate world. But the creative spirit never faded, and my sketchbook remained a trusted companion, always capturing my evolving ideas.
Over 30 years ago, I moved to New Zealand, bringing with me not just my belongings, but my tools—my true passion. Today, I am fortunate to have a studio here on the farm, where I blend my love of form and function to create timeless pieces of jewellery. Each design is carefully crafted to be enjoyed every day, bringing together art and wearability in a way that speaks to my lifelong commitment to craftsmanship.
